'Real life Indiana Jones,' adventurer John Goddard dies at 88

John Goddard, the La Cañada Flintridge adventure-seeker who earned the nickname “the real life Indiana Jones,” has died. He was 88.

Newton R. Russell, veteran state legislator, dies at 85

In the Senate, the communities he represented included Arcadia, Monrovia, Sierra Madre, San Marino, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge and part of Pasadena.

A conservative Republican, Russell served 32 years in the Legislature, including 10 years in the Assembly and 22 years in the Senate, where his district included Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge and part of Pasadena.
