Adeline "Libby" Nardo Sept. 12, 1923-August 18, 2012
Adeline Nardo (August 23, 2012)
She was born September 12, 1923 in Canton, Ohio to Samuel and Angeline Lassafare. She attended Mount Marie Academy and in 1948 married Frank Nardo.
They moved to Burbank, Ca. in 1955 with their family and Libby began volunteering at St. Finbar’s Church and School where she performed typing, bookkeeping and became their number one substitute teacher.
Libby was devoted to her family and cared for both of her elderly parents and her sister Florence when she became ill.
Her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren with which she spent many happy hours.
Libby was an untiring volunteer in her community and served in so many capacities it is difficult to describe them all. She was an integral part of the Burbank Senior Advisory Board, the Joslyn Senior Center and St. Finbar Church. She worked with Burbank Temporary Aid Center feeding the homeless and in Burbank schools volunteering for over 30 years. She was Woman of the Year for the city of Burbank in 2009.
Libby was a generous and beautiful person and an amazing role model for all people. She will be deeply missed but is most assuredly in heaven.
She is survived by her children, Angela Nardo-Morgan, her spouse Lance and son Ronan and Christopher Nardo, his spouse Conni and their children, Katie and Dante. Her sister Virginia Clough and grandchildren, Jenny, Jimmy and Adam Nardo. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Nardo and their son Frances Anthony Nardo.
A rosary will be held on Thursday Aug 23 from 5-7 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 11a.m. at St. Finbar Church.
