The Pasadena Sun, which debuted in the summer of 2011, collected two second-place awards Saturday in the California Newspaper Publishers Assn.'s annual Better Newspaper Contest. The awards, presented in San Jose during a meeting of the nonprofit trade association, were among 16 collected on behalf of Times Community North by Editor Dan Evans.

In the prestigious "general excellence" category, the Pasadena Sun outshone other weeklies, earning a second-place honors for its contents and presentation. Bill Kisliuk is city editor of the paper, which is overseen by Evans.

Also capturing a second-place prize was the Pasadena Sun's website. The entire Pasadena Sun staff shares in the award as all are responsible for helping to keep the site current.
