A memorial service for Andy Beattie, the city commissioner who died July 27, has been set for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, at La Cañada Presbyterian Church, 626 Foothill Blvd. This is a change in venue from previously announced plans to hold it on the Occidental College campus.

Beattie was a member of the La Cañada Flintridge Public Safety Commission at the time of his death. Before that, he served on the La Cañada Unified School District Governing Board, including a term as its president. As a supporter of the Democratic Party, Beattie was a longtime volunteer for the White House’s Office of Advance, which coordinates the travel schedules of the president and press corps.

The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations in his name be made to YMCA of the Foothills to support the building of additional parking.
