La Cañada High School custodians Carlos Martinez and Carlos Hernandez nabbed two fugitives who wandered onto campus on Friday, Aug. 31, greeting students outside schoolrooms.

Jake and Buttercup, a pair of canines shown here in the arms of their captors, were corralled around 9:30 a.m. Both were wearing identification tags.

Their owner, a La Cañada High School parent, came by later in the day to take them home.
