The driver of a motorcycle was airlifted to a local hospital Saturday after his or her vehicle reportedly flew about 200 feet over the side of Angeles Crest Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A call came in at 12:59 p.m. from the U.S. Forest Service reporting the vehicle had driven over the side of the freeway in what is believed to be a single-vehicle accident, according to Officer Francisco Villalobos of the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred near the 56-mile mark of the Angeles Crest Highway.

The driver was airlifted to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.

Further details on how the incident occurred are still being investigated, Villalobos said.
