Sr. McCormick's piece on behalf of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (“Moving Forward with the Mission,” October 4) is an excellent example of when words don't match deeds.
Despite her assertions that FSHA wants to be a “good neighbor,” only a select few of us living near the school received one, and only one, bare-bones flier in September of this year — long after FSHA began filing for its massive construction plans for the hilltop campus. And while McCormick insists the school will keep its buildings at “the relative same height,” FSHA is requesting approval for a new, 80-foot-tall auditorium. McCormick goes on to insist that building a large parking garage and, as confirmed by FSHA’s website, increasing permitted student enrollment by about 10% will decrease traffic. Huh?
FSHA has yet to earn the trust of many of us in the neighborhood due to the fact that they have knowingly violated a city-mandated enrollment cap of 385 for years.
Protect LCF, a coalition of homeowners in the neighborhood adjacent to FSHA dedicated to preserving the integrity of our neighborhood, will continue to hold the school accountable in the weeks and months ahead. Please see our website for more information on Protect LCF and FSHA’s massive “update” and expansion of its campus, protectlcf.nationbuilder.com.
