New England eliminated them in the 2007 AFC Divisional Playoff and in a 2005 AFC Wild Card Game. The franchise's most popular players are former quarterback Mark Brunell, former offensive tackle Tony Boselli, former receiver Jimmy Smith and longtime running back Fred Taylor.
After initially competing in the Central Division of the American Football Conference, the Jags were moved to the AFC South under realignment in 2002. The Jags play at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The old Gator Bowl Stadium was rebuilt in 1995 and can hold as many as 80,000 fans. It was the host for Super Bowl XXXIX following a $63 million renovation. Starting in 2005 the Jags covered up nearly 10,000 seats to help keep the stadium sold out so home games would not be subjected to the NFL's local television blackout rules. Listed capacity for Jags games is 67,134.
Majority owner Wayne Weaver won the NFL franchise on Nov. 30, 1993, after the NFL decided to expand by two teams (alongside the Carolina Panthers).
