Spring Break

Daytona's Spring Break peaked in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but Daytona Beach also shut down the event after the crowds grew to nearly 500,000 and the drinking and partying became too excessive.

Panama City Beach in Florida, South Padre Island in Texas, and Cancun, Mexico have since become other popular Spring Break destinations. Spring Break in Daytona Beach persists as a small, quieter event.
